Allibhai Veljee plate ₹⁸⁰⁰
Ironstone plate (7x7inches) from the Double Phoenix line made by Nikko, for Allibhai Veljee of Novagoa. Ironstone is a fine white high fired vitreous semi porcelain, commonly used for heavy duty dinner services in the 19th century. Nikko was founded in 1908 in Kanazawa, Ishikawa, and were a rare Japanese firm famous for their ironstone ceramics with the market dominated by firms from the US/UK. Allibhai Veljee seems to have been a shop in (now) Panaji, which was in operation through the 1960s.
Plate has a shallow crack in the middle, recommend hanging it. Comes with wire wall hanging mechanism
